Yesterday morning at 12:15 o'clock the cable on the 7th street jine was broken and traffic was stopped for several hours. Grip car No. 4 had just reached the big switch at the upper end of 7th street, where the cable passes around the great wheel at the end of the line. The grip man, of course, should have released the grip from the cable, but he failed to da so, and whe: the grip came to the wheel it cut the wire cable as sharply asa knife could have done it. The splicer, an employe of the com- pany. and an expers at it, was at once sum- moned. He was soonon the scene with all sorts of tools and applianc:s. Fourteen tea of horses were put to work and by their aid the two endsofthe cable, which had been loosened from the drums.at the power house, were brought ee Both ends were pulled out of a man hole and the splicer at once set to work. He made a neat and quick job of it and soon the cable was an endless one once more. The slack was taken in over the big drums at ine house, the machinery was started bet ‘an early hour everything was in first rate running order. Yesterday the cars were running as usual and carrying large numbers of passengers. —_—_. Two Divorces Granted. Today Judge Cox, in the Equity Court, made a decree in the case of Henry T.
