Sergeant Falvey and Policemen Fenton and Parker secured what they thought was evidence North Capitol street just across the alley from who was charged in the Police Court today with selling liquor on Sunday. About 5 o'clock in the morning the officers saw half a dozen the defendant's place, A singular fact in connection with the ease was that Hagan gave the officers the names of witnesses. These were employes of the print- ing office. It appeared in the testimony today that eleven men, who worked in the same room, had an arrangement with Hagan by which they got their lunches and drinks of him. One of their number had a key by which they were enabled to get into the place at any hour and help themselves, The eatables and drinkablgs were left in convement places, The junches and drinks are paid for once a month. Mr. Hagan said he accorded these privileges to only a few men, Mr. Cahill, representing the defendant. argued that under a decision of the Genera Term in the Ford and Graham case it takes but very fittle to make a meal, and the courts have decided that liquor is a part of the meal.
