Christmas and Miss Norris, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Norris of No. 1332 9th steet, were married at Epiphany church today at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Dr. McKim officiating. ‘The ushers were Mr. Jno. W. Coleman of Ala- bama, Mr. Marion Norris, brother of the bride; Mr. Geo. P. Money of Mississippi, and Mr. Philp Cronin of this city. ‘Chey wore cutaway coats of black diagonal and rose buds in their lapels. Mr. Coleman also acted as best man to the groom. The bride entered the church upon the arm of the groom and was attired in an elegant traveling dress of red dahlia broad- cloth made in the directoire style, with revers of velvet, toque of dahlia red velvet, trimmed with a coronét of feathers, and she carried a great bouquet of safrano roses tied with yellow ribbons. A cep= of black astrachan fur donned at the close of the ceremony completed the costume. Among those present in the church were Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Norris, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Norris, Mr. Frank Hume, Mr. John L. Norris, Dr. and Mrs. C. U. Kennedy, the Misses Kennedy, Mr. Jas. Christmas and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Hempton of Bealisville, Md, the latter being the sister of the bride. The father of the bride gave her hand in marriage. Tripp, who came on with his wife from Colorado to be present atthe Bayley- Williamson wedding, will return to the west, where his mining interests are, leaving Mra. ‘Tripp to pass the winter in Washington with her father, Gen. J. A. Williamson. ‘The golden-wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. 8. M. Bell was celebrated lest evening by a gathering of friends at their residence. With Rev. Dr. Bartlett officiating the marriage cere- mony was performed again as it had been fifty years ago. But on this occasion it was in the wesence of children and grandchildren. Georgetown Business Men Thoroughly in Earnest—They Hold Another Meeting. Business men here are thoroughly aroused as to the necessity for railroad connections, The subject was earnestly discussed at the recent conference with the officials of the proposed Georgetown and Gettysburg road. A meeting was held last night which was attended by a majority of the business men. Mr, Samuel C. Palmer presided and Mr. C. P. Williams acted as secretary. The meeting wasa most harmonious one, every one present realizing the great necessity for direct railroad connec- tions and the proposed Gettysbarg and George- town railroad project was cordially indorsed. A fire occurred in the pumping room of the gas house on Maryland avenue southwest be- tween 3d and 43¢ streets about 12:30 p.m. to- day and for a time fears were entertained for the safety of the large gas tank near by. The fire, however, was confined to the top of the little one-story brick building where the gas is pumped from the works at the corner of 26th and streets to the large tank. The fire caught from the stove pipe, which is in close proximity to the woodwork. The damages amounted to about $50. i The Death Record. James King, a colored man who looked as if he had come in contact with a policeman’s club, was in the Police Court yesterday, charged with assaulting Fannie Chapman, his female companion. Fannie had no complaint | © to make against him and the case was there- fore dismissed. Policemen Wortz and Camp- bell appeared and said that they were wit- nesses, but the judge told them they were too late. The officers did not like the idea of hav- ing their case dismissed and so they went and swore out # magistrate’s warrant for both King and the woman after the former bad been prosecuted and the latter had been used as a witness. Both parties were arrested and the case was called in the Police Court this morn- ing. The woman was released on her personal bonds and King was fined $5, > Real Estate Matters. E. The defendants were two young colored men, James Harris and David Asher. The former is employed at the District buildings, where, for a number of Pears, he has been the trusted messenger of the Commissioners, ‘The ‘move on” order was given to the young men by Policeman Wortz while they were standing in front of Harris’ residence on 2st street last evening. They objected, arguing that they had a right to stand and talk where they were. Possibly they had, but the blue-coated guardian of the public Ee thought differently and he “took them “Obstructing the sidewalk” was the charge made against them in the Police Court this morning. Prosecuting Attorney Shillington said he was willing that the court should take their personal bonds.
