ARecord Bovk to Contain the Military Record of the Members. The camp fire of Burnside post, No. 8, G.A.R., at Grand Army hall on Pennsylvania avenue be- tween 1éth and 15th streets last night was largely attended. The hall was tastefully decorated with flags, and made more pleasant by the bright faces of a large number of ladies. It was stated that Corporal Tanner had promised to be present, provided he did not have to go to New York, and an invitation had been extended to Commissioner Raum also, but neither put in an appearance. After an enjoyable program had been rendered, consisting of songs and re- citations, Past Post Commander Dr. Huntoon rose and in a neat ‘h presented to the post, in behalf of Mr. George Truesdell, a record book designed to contain the individual military history of every. member of the it. Post Oommander Hendrick responded in a fitting manner. —— es WASHINGTON AHEAD. A Potomac Archer Leads the Score at the Brooklyn Meet. But one of our local bowmen, Mr. L.W. Max- son, is in attendance upon the annual meet of the Eastern archery association at Brooklyn, N.Y., which began yesterday and continues to- y. The scores noted below show that Wash- ington is still in the lead. The wenther yester- day was raw and very windy, so that but few archers from the neighborhood of New York shot. The ladies contested at the double Co- lumbia round, 48 arrows efich, at 50, 40 and 30 yards, the leading scores being: Mrs. D, A. Nash, 110 hits, 525 score; Mrs. E. R. McIlvane, 98 hits, 335 score. At the special contest with 96 arrows at 40 yards Mra. Nash led with 90 hits, 418 score. The gentlemen shot the double American round of 60 arrows each at 60, 50 and 40 yards, The heavy wind prevented high scoring, but the records made were better than those at the recent Potomac meet, The leading scores were: L. W. Maxson, 174 hits, 992 score; G. ©. Spen- cer, 160 hits, 822 score; E. R. McIlvaine, 158 hits, 723 score. At the speciel shoot for gen- tlemen, 96 arrows, at 60 yards, L.W. Maxson of Washington led with 94 hits, 500 score, Mr, Spencer standing next with 82 hits, 378 score. The contest today will be at the York round, the distances ranging from 60 to 100 yards. — tobacco uch ts, ess ve month.
