THE EVENING STAR: WASHINGTON, SOCIAL MATTERS. Mrs. Logan’s Reception to the Knights Templar—Personal Notes. Mrs. Logan throws open her house and grounds at Calumet Place for the entertain- ment of the visiting Knights Templar on next Tharsday night memorial to ber late hus- band. Gen. n attended the last trienpial conclave of Knights Templar that was held in St Lows in October, 1886, as a member of the Chevalier Bayard commandery of Chicago. and he had much to do with locating the present conclave in Wash- ington. On his return to his home, which was shortly before his death, Gen. Logan talked a great deal about the coming visit of the knights to the city, and planned to give them a large reception. This plan Mrs. Logan now wishes to carry out and the entertainment next week is in the nature of a tribute to Gen. Logan's memory. The local commanderies are assist- ing Mrs. Logan with the reception in every war. They have taken charge of the decora- tions and the refreshments, and the ladies of the receiving party have been designated by the knights of the District commanderies. Tents be erected upon the extensive grounds of Calumet place for the serving of the supper, and in frontof the house two tents will be pitehed, in one of which the ladies will deposit their wraps and the other will be for the accommodation of ~ men. There will be no going upstail side the house. The grounds will lighted with calcium lights, and the scene outside the house will be dazzling in the brilliant white- ness of the illumination.
