Mutilated Body of a Colored Man Found on the B. and O. Track. The passengers on the train that arrived at the Baltimore and Obio depot from Baltimore about 8 o'clock this morning witnesses a sick- ening sight. It was the dead body of a colored man that was found lying between the tracks near Rives’ station, just a few yards this side of the District linc. The body was thas of a negro, apparently twenty-five or thirty years old. Life had no doubt been extinct for sev- eral hours, as the body was cold and stiff. The corpse was picked up by the trainmen and brought here to the morgue. Exactly under what circumstances death oc- curred is not known, although it is generally supposed that the eaneen was struck by a tram. There + wounds on the body that might bave been inflicted otherwise, WAS HE MURDERED? It is barely possible that the man received the death biows during a fight and that his body was put near the railroad track to conceal the crime. Such, however, is not supposed to be the case, as the wounds are chiefly on one side of the body. leftarm and leg are ly scarred and the leg is broken. His left jaw is also broken and there is a hole through the chin. ‘There is also hole through the skull over the ) apd another one in the back of the head. No oue had seen the body until the train arrived, The police think that the man was either walking between the tracks or he had fallen asleep there. It is supposed that he either lives in the country or was visiting some one along the line of the railroad, The body is held at the morgue for identifi- cation, —_—-___. $7 vor Two Days at Coney Istaxp axp New Yorx.—Special excursion via Baltimore and Obio, Saturday, September 7, to this famous resort.
