More Room: Yes, Mozz Room: ‘WHAT DOES IT MEAN? ‘WHAT IS THE EXPLANATION OF THE RAPID AND COMPLETE SUCCESS OF OUR BUSINESS? IT 18 SIMPLY THIS: OUR SUCCESS IS THE LEGITIMATE RESULT OF PLEDGES MADE AND KEPT TO THE LETTER. WE NEVER ADVERTISE ANYTHING THAT WE ARE NOT SURE OF. WE NEVER MAKE A PROMISE AND BREAK IT. One of the latest improvements in the hand- ling of these cars is an ingenious device for shifting the batteries at the station, by the use of which the discharged battery is removed and a fresh one substituted for it in less than three minutes. The batteries leave the station with 35 electrical horse-power hours stored im them, and do not consume quite 12 in the round trip of 12 miles. That the batteries should give out on trip is pronounced impos- sible, A minimum life of six months is claimed for the batteries. Results obtained in any city from the use of the storage battery on street cars will be carefully noted everywhere, and nowhere more carefully than in Washington. ‘This motive power is the ideal one for street cars. It does not obstruct the air or disfigure the surface of the it with poles and over- head wires. It docs not tear up the streets for the laying of underground conduits. Each car has an independent motor and is un- affected by an accident to the motor of another car. Where there is but a singie source of motive power an accident to this motor stops the whole system. Municipalities and street car companies have recognized the advantages of the storage battery cars, but the process of making their use practicable and economical BARGAINS WE HAVE PROMISED—BARGAINS WE HAVE GIVEN. ah BAR GAl AND BARGAINS YOU SHALL HAVE THE LAST WEEK OF OUR SEMI-ANNUAL BAR- GAIN SALE TO CLOSE OUT OUR SUMMER SHOES TO MAKE BOOM FORTHE FALL AND WINTER STOCK.
