A Wife Attempts Suicide in a Sensa- tional Manner. drank now. SHE A notice appeared in Tur Srar last night, signed by John 0. Honey, as follows: “My wife, Alice M. Honey, having left my bed and board without just cause, I hereby warn all persons from crediting her, as I will not be re- sponsible for any debts contracted by her from this date.” Before this reached the eye of Mrs. Honey she had appeared at the govern- ment printing office and created an excitement there by taking chloroform, apparently with suicidal intent. Oscar Honey married Alice Boyce a year ago last Thanksgiving. She then resided on-Myrtle street and he was employed in the printing office. They had not been mar- ried many mouths before there was trouble in the family, and they separated. They remained se; ted some time. and a few month gago they were reunited and opened a store on Capi- tol Hill, Still they could not get along and a ‘ond separation followed. This time the hus- und made up his mind to remain separated, and refused to see his wife. Commencement Exercises of the Theo- logical Department, Howard University. The annual commencement exercises of the theological, department of Howard university were held last evening at the Asbury M. E. church. After prayer by Rev. Dr. Butier, Ran- dolf Peyton, of Caroline county, Va., delivered an oration on “The Relation of Science to Re- ligion.” “The Sunday Newspaper” was the theme selected by Chaunceford Fairfax, of York, Pa., and Wm. J. Brooks, of Baltimore, chose the ‘Interpretation of Life.” Wm. J. Robinson, of this city, was assigned to speak on the “Influence of the Bible,” but was excused. The diplomas were then conferred on the graduates above named by Rev. Dr. Patton, the president of Howard University. Rev.
