The front door of the Johnson annex of the Arlington hotel is closed to visitors to-day and all must pass throngh the main corridors of the hotel to reach the apartments of Geu. Har- rison. The ladies of the party saw no visitors this morning and many cards were left for them. Mr. and Mrs. MeKee Innched with Miss Gouverneur on Rhode Island avenne to- day. The other guests were Mrs. Hoos, of New York, who came over to spend the inaugu- ration week with her family; Mrs. W. C. John- son, of Frederick, who is in the city for the day; Miss Bowen, Miss Mollie Owens, and Mrs. RG. Brown, who is the daughter of Senator Davis, of West Virginia, and was one of Mrs, BMcKee’s bridesmaids at her marriage. Mrs. Bussell Harrison will receive this afternoon with Mrs. Henry C. Bowen at the Arlington, and Mrs, Harrison will drive this afternoon with John Sherman. Mrs. Hearst gave a sumptuous luncheon of fifteen covers to-day in honor of her guest, Mrs. A. E. Head, of San Francisco. The pre- pomp, Sone in the table adornments were yel- lor table cloth was of the finest linen, the napkins were embroidered in yellow silks in many shade, chrysanthemums and butterilies and the name cards were hand-painted, large Pieces of Chinese rice paper in designs of flow- ers, and they were tucked upon fringed lengths of yellow moire ribbon. A large ob- cut-glass jardinette filled the center of the table and was itself filled with yellow jonquils aud tulips, and two large cut-glass bowls were full of the same variety of flowers. Four beau- tiful branching candelabra held burning yel- low tapers shaded by yellow fringed shades. Mrs. Hearst wore a demi-trained gown of olive green brocade with front of satin stripped with velvet. Mrs. Head wore a hand- some toilet of black moire antique. The other were Mrs. _ Fuller, Mrs. Whitney, Mrs. Carlisle, Mrs. John M. Wilson, Madam Barreda, the Baroness Rosen, the Countess Sponneck, Mrs. George B. Loring. Miss Mildred Lee, Mrs, Fitzhugh Lee, Mrs. Pol- lock, Mrs. Manderson and Mrs. Gouverneur,. After the luncheon the ladies repaired to the drawing-room where handsome bouquets of yellow roses tied with yellow ribbons were pre- sented them. Mrs. Harrison’s reception closed yesterday at 4 o'clock, and she and Mrs. McKee, with the children, went out for a drive. Gen. Har- rison and Mr. W. H. H. Miller took a walk b tween 5 and 6. During the early evening Speaker Carlisle, Editor Murat Halstead, and Senator Sherman called. Mrs. Harrison's | father, Dr. Scott, and Mrs. Lord, his sister, spent the evening with Mrs. Harrison.
