REPUBLICANS ARE NOT DISTURBED BY IT, The receipt of the news of the result of the recount in Charleston, W. Va., by which Alder- son, democratic candidate for Congress from the third district is given a majority of 17, and the election of Fleming, democratic candidate for governor probably assured, did not —_disturb republican leaders yesterday. They assert that their majority in the House in the Fifty-first Congress, with the West Virginia delegation, oli democratic will be five. Genera! Clarke says certificates of election have been issued in every state except West Virginia. so that no further change is probable. There have been no additional ones received, how- — by the clerk of the House since the last ie e only apparent effect of the West news was to — strengthen m= sentiment among republican members im favor of holding an extra session soon after the beginning of the new adminis- tration. It is conceded that Gen. Harrison will make his action in this matter conform largely to the wishes of the members-elect.
