A Notorious Negro Burglar Captured. A GREAT DEAL OF JEWELRY AND OTHER STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED. Detectives Carter and Mahon made an important arrest yesterday by the capture of the notorious negro burglar James Moore, with several aliases, who, {t 1s thought, has been robbing houses in va- rious parts of the city, and especially in East Washington. In connection with the arrest the officers recovered considerable Jewelry besides $45 in cash, and a number of miscellaneous articles, He is an expert burglar and has done time in Al- bany for robberies committed in this city. He ts the famous umbrella thief, He had a rope ladder, on the ends of which were iron hooks, An exten- sion handle was connected with an umbrella, by means of which the ladder could be raised and hooked onto the second-story window of a house. ‘Three years ago Sergeant.
