In the Senate to-day the following appotntments were announced by the presiding officer: Mr. Haw- ley, as director of the Columbia Deaf and Dumb Institutions Mr. Davis, as consulting trustee of the Reform School of the District of Columbia, and Mr. Blackburn, as director of the Columbia Hos- pital for Women, Mr. Morgan, from the committee on foreign re- lations, reported a resolution directing the secre- tary of State to furnish copies of all correspond- ence with the Mexican governinent since January, 1886, respecting the Well and La Abra cian nse also’ to state what amount has been Mexico under the convention for the adjustment of claims, the amount distributed, the amount un- distributed, and tue reasons for withholding the same, &¢. ‘Adopte . House of Representatives. PARTIAL REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON RULES. Mr. Kandali (P..), from the committee on rules, submitted a partial report. ‘The report recommends the adoption of the rules of the Forty-ninth Congress wnuil further orders, with the following changes: The membership of the committee on the library is increased to five.
