J. ¥.D. Kelly, formerly of this eity, who, as stated in yesterday's Stan, was arrested Thursday in New Haven, Conn., for the abduction from Phil- adelphia of Rachael H. Stone, was given a hearing before Magistrate Smith, in Philadelphia, yester- day, and committed in default of $5,000 ball for trial. MissStone, who was seventeen years old yesterday, Was a half-unwilling witness against Kelly. Stie cried as she told her story. Mrs. Stone, the mother of the girl, testified that Kelly had boarded with her for two years. He had told her be bad a wife in. this city. However, she did not know his character until he had gone away with her granddaughter. Letters in “his trunk then revealed to her the story of is deliberate duplicity. Mrs. Stone sald that Kelly's wife in this city bad written her concerning her husband after the elopement. Miss Stone, when on the stand, said she knew Kelly was married. Before leaving Philadeiphia they had gone to Cainden to get married.
