There was a good attendance of members for the first part of the meeting, mainiy from the south and east sections, but as the meeting was protracted the attendance dwin- died, wutil at the final vote only between thirty and forty members were present. Mr. John T. ‘Mitchell said that before the regular business came up he would like to introduce a resolution, and there being no objection, he read a resolution re- citing that the committee heartily concurs in the effort now being made by the District Commis- sioners to arch over Rock Creek as an improve- Recovery of a large ammount ox unectugeet ana, the ‘a large amount of ui ied Temoval of the nuisance of an open sewer, and’ the unification of the District. Consideration of this resolution was deferred until the next meeting. THE RAILROAD REFORT. It was decided to take up and act upon the Tecommendations of the raliroad report seriatim. ‘The secretary read the first recommendation Providing for the location of a union railroad passenger depot at Reservation 17. ‘Mr. W.-H. Singleton moved to serike out 17 and insert “at Virginia avenue and Maryland avenue, ‘Sth and C streets southwest.” He added that this was tne location recommended by the Commis- oir. Gray said that he eht it would be sufti- ctent to say in opposition to this amendment that the site Was located in the center of one of the ‘ost thickly seted portions of South Washing- n. Mr. Morsell sald that he was opposed to the use of any reservation for railroad pi and for this reason Le Was opposed to the amendment, Col.
