Morrison took place this morning from his late residence, 11th and L streets northwest, and was attended by a large number of the friends and acquaintances of the deceased. He had been a great admirer of flowers, and some time since gave directions that when be died a florist should be engaged to arrange the Mowers for his funeral. In compliance with this Wish Messrs. Small ¢ Son were engaged to take charge of the matter, and the parlors were one mass of plants and Mowers, and the gas fixtures truamed with smilax. The Trial Postponed Tin After the Summer Hecess of Court, In the Criminal Court to-day District attorney Worthington called the attention of the court to ‘the case of John Daily, indicted last Friday for the murder of Jos. C.G. Kennedy on Wednesday of last week, and said that he had asked the counsel of the prisoner—Messrs. T. F. Miller and H.C. Clagett—to be present to-day, that the caseshould be set for trial. The Government was prepared for trial at any time. Mr. Clagett said they did not think it possible to get ready for trial in so short atime. They would have to make a thorough investigation, and it ‘Would not be proper to go into the trial without Preparation. He had now a letter trom Philadel. phia in reference to the prisoner's life there, and some time would be required to investigate It. Mr. Miller remarked that the condition of the man Was such that it would take about all the time before the surmmer recess to learn from him What his real defense 1s, and he did not think it Possible to go to trial before the recess. Ordway has made ‘a requisition for fifty Springfeld rises and accoutrements of the latest improved pattern. Died in a Police Cel. JAMES FOLEY FOUND DEAD SITTING ON A BENCH. James Foley, a laborer, fifty-five years of age, died last evening ina cell at the Sixth Precinct station, where he was confined on a charge of in- toxtcation. He was arrested some time ago on complaint of his wife, who charged him with being an habitual drunkard. He was taken before the Police Court, where he gave bonds, and was Teleased. On several other occasions he was arrested on charges of intoxication and locked up, Yesterday afternoon he was, found drunk by Officer Burdett near the corner of 1stand K streets hortheast, and Was removed to the station in the trol Wagon. He was very qutet in the cell and lid not speak to any of the officers, Atter 6 O'clock, when Station-Keeper Garner came on duty, the other prisoners frequently called for water. In passing Foley’s cell the officer noticed its occupant sitting on the iron bench, apparently asleep. AN ACCIDENT WHICH CAUSED A TEMPORARY DELAY OF WORK ON THE TUNNEL. One of the lengths of pipe used to conduct com- pressed air from the compressors at the high-ser- Vice pump statfon, in West Washington, to the new aqueduct tunnel, blew out yesterday and caused a temporary suspension of work with the drills. Outpliayed by Pittsburg. ‘THE WASHINGTONS PALL BACK AGAIN TO THE SEVENTH PLACE. ‘The Pittsburgs outplayed the Washingtons at all potnts yesterday and won a well-played game by ascore of 4102. This defeat puts the Wash- ingtons back in seventh place, the Pittsburgs now holding sixth position by a small percentage, Morris pitched a great game and was supported almost perfectly. Gilmore also pitched wat, but the visitors bunched four hits in the sixth tonin; making three runs, which were sufictent to win the game. ‘The feature of the game was the fleld- ing of Dailey.
