President Robert Garrett was at his office in the Central building of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail- Toad Co. yesterday, but, a8 usual, declined to say anything about “the deal.” Friends of the com- Pany, however, continued to reiterate the state- ment which they have been making for several days, that the terms of a negotiation have been settled, and that an authoritative announcement ts not remote. The Phiadelphia correspondent of the Sun, Who gave the first information of the ex- istence Of the Suily option, telegraphed yesterday as tollows: “In this city the B. and 0. deal has dropped almost entirely out of sight, but to-day a gentle- man Who professes to have seen the papers de- clared that it had been consummated, a Boston sYndicate with ample means having’made the Orst payment. THE STEEL RAILS HAVE ALREADY BEEN BOUGHT, THE RIGHT OF WAY SECURED AND THE GRADING IS BEING RAPID- LY PUSHED TO COMPLETE THIS EXTENSION BY THE FIRST OF NOVEMBER, OR NOT LATER THAN THE FIRST OF JANUARY, 1888. ‘This road passes through the most fertile land of the State of Florida, and the most thrifty orange belt of the State.
