THOMAS CARTER ON TRIAL FOR MURDER IN THE CRIMINAL COURT. ‘The trial of Thomas Carter, the old colored man, indicted for the murder of James Holmes, by stab- bing him on the 26th of July last in Goat alley, during a quarrel over an umbrella, was continued. yesterday after Tar Star's report closed. Charlotte Bayly testified that she lived Carter's house, and saw Holmes rushing out of the house out: “I am cut todeath.” Holmes kept on to the drug store and then Carter came out.
