The 200 striking convicts in the coal mines in Dade county, Ga., have fortified themselves and say they will not return to work until as- sured of better treatment, Penitentiary-keeper Towers has telegraphed Gov. McDaniel that he gan crush the revolt without the aid of § ‘Towers telegraphed the governor that it would be necessary to kill three or jour of the leaders or starve all to subordination. The governor orders the latter course, and the convicts say they wiil all starve to death rather than return to work. They have gone one day without food or drink, and are more determined than ever. Many ‘of them are under lite-sentence, and ‘others for many years, Senator Brown, who owns the mines in whitch the rebellious convicts have been working, said last night he had heard nothing of any trouble in the mines.
