The Union cemetery, opened in 1860, is also very nearly full, The Soldiers’ Military cemetery bus, of course, no new graves, and [vy Hill seems to be too far off for much service now, but will doubtless be the grave yard of the future, when the town grows Ww bea place of twenty-five thousand inhabi- tants. CURED BY CUTICURA. ‘My little son, aged elght years, has been afflicted with Eczema of the scalp, and at times a great por- tion of the body, ever since he was two years old. It began in his ears, and extended to his scalp, which be- came covered with scabs and sores, and from which a sticky fluid poured out, causing intense itching and distress, and leaving his hair matted and lifeless. Un- derneath these scabs the skin was raw, like a plece of beefiteak. Gradually the halr came out and was de- stroyed, until but a small patch was left at the back of the head. My friends in Peabody know how my little boy has suffered. At night he would scratch his head until his pillow was covered with blood. I used to tie his hands behind him, and in many wags tried to pre~ vent his scratching; but it was no use, he would scratch. I took him to the hospital and to the best physicians in Peabody without success. About this time some friends, who had been cured by the Curt. cura ReEMEbrEs, prevailed upon me to try them, 1 degan to use them on the 15th of January last. In 7 months every particle of the disease was removed. Not a spot or scab remains on his scalp to tell the story of his suffering. ‘His hair has returned, and is thick and strong, aud bis scalp as sweet and clean as ‘any child's in the world. I cannot say enough to ex- Press my gratitude for this wonderful cure by the Curicura Reuxpres and wish all similarly affiicted to know that my statement is true and without exag- geration. WALKER FOR Corahite Work: ten maha , SOUR BREAD, Sour bread is caused by pure yeast, or an excessive fermentation in the dough. Sour biscuits are caused by the use of an adulterated, impure, or improperly com- pounded baking powder. Both are unwholesome, producing intestinal derange- ‘ments, indigestion, eto. ‘The sour or alkaline taste attending the use of cheap, low-grade baking pow- ders is due to the fact that such powders are not properly combined, and that the ingredients used in them are impure, The cream of tartar of the market used by their manufacturers is adulterated from five to twenty per cent. They do not know how much lime it contains, and hence are unable to mix it with the alkali or soda in proper proportions, As high as 11.85 per cent, of lime has been found by the chemists in some of these powders, due to these causes, The result is an imperfect action which renders the bread, biscuit, or pastry heavy, sour, and Gisagreeable, or a residuum of lime and dirt, imparting @ bitter taste to the food, Any baking powder that does this is unfit for uso, zi ‘There aan be no heavy or sour bread, biscuit or cake where a perfectly made pure baking powder, like the “ Royal,” is used, In the use of the Royal noresi- duum 1s left, and theloaf raised by it is always sweet, light, and wholesome, and noticeably free from the peculiar tastes complained of. This is because it is composed of nothing but absolutely pure materials, sclentif~ally combined in exactly the proper proportions of acid and alkali to act upon and destroy each other, while producing the largest amount of raising power, Wo sre justified in this assertion by the unqualified statements of the Government Chemists, who, after thorough and exhaustive tests, recommended the “Royal” for Government use because of Its superiority over all others in purity, strength, and wholesome- ness, There ts nodanger of sour or bitter bread or biscuit where the Royal Baking Powder alone ts used. eo — —— — — — = aitixa "Tue Rox.
