Miss Gloyd’s Assailant. THE PEOPLE OF GAITHERSBURG STILL SEARCH- ING FOR THE FUGITIVE. Correspondence of Tax EVENING STAR. GaitueErssung, June 2.—The colored man, Charles or Danfel Anderson, arrested by Officer Van Fleet in Washington, and supposed to be the assailant of Miss Gloyd, was interviewed in Washington by Sheriff Miller last evening, and the sberiff was satisfied that Anderson was not the right man. He was not, however, released, for his statements were so unsatisfactory that it Was thought that he might be wanted else- where. The excitement here has not abated in the least, although yesterday there was @ con- siderable’ falling off of the crowds about the post office and station. This is attributable to the fact that the farmers have work to do which cannot be postponed. ‘The man seen near Sy ee ile rs pee Lael aa at the He ere of the Gaithersburg people, Monroe, who was first arrested and released, has been taken, Into custody again in Carroll county, and will prob- ably be brought to Gaithersburg for identifica- tion. Itis thought by many that Miss Gloyd would be unable to positively identify the man, from the fact that she has at first identified some of the men captured. ‘The county commissioners yesterday offered reward of $200 for information resulting in the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator. peabicnc AN INSANE LaDy DISAPPEARS FROM A RalL- ROAD TRAIN.—At Joseph King, De Trales, of Charleston, 8. rted at Police headquarters that he left the tin and Potomac de in this city, on the 11:20 p.m. train for New York with his Te- $k Gp,0.788 Crab Salad.
