Prof. De Smedt’s Examination of Geo. Dorsey’s Bloody Coat. To-day Prot. De Smedt made a careful micro- scopical examination of the spots on the coat which Detective MeDevitt took from a house in Montgomery county, Md., near the place where Philip Haviland was last seen. The coat was one worn by George Dorsey, a colored man, now in fail at Rockville. The spots are rather obscure, as a result of the process of washing to which the coat had been subjected, yet they afford abundant proof of being blood. Prot, De Smedt, however, is at present unable to say whether it is human blood. Two very small spots found on a portion of the lining, which had not been washed, were examined under the microscope.
