Vanderbilt died suddenly at his residence in Fitth avenue, New York, at haif- past 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, while talk- ing to Mr. Robert Garrett, president of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad. During the morning Mr. Vanderblit seemed as well as usual, and attended to business. Towards noon he went down town to the studio Qa. Ward, the seuiptor, in west 52d street, to sit for a bronze bust of himself, which the College of Physicians and Su to place in the vestibule of the college, tor the erection of which he recently gave half a million of dollars. He returned and took Iuneh at 12:30 with his wife, bis son George, and Mr. Twombiy, and at the table was noticeably bright and cheerful.
