THE NEW INSULATING MACHINE WORKS WELL The Averell Insulating Conduit company, of this city, of which Gen. W.S. Rosecrans is pres- ident, and Col. Wia. G. Moore treasurer, began laying the copper wire cable for the Baltimore and Ohio Ratlroad company in this city to-day, commencing at the corner of 10th and C streets, and extending tor 14th street, on the line c the agian y being to connect the wires of the B. & . road between the railroad station and their new office, near Willard’s. The wires are to ex- tend up'14th street to the office. This is the first contract work done with the Averell patent insulating machine for laying the wires. ‘The machine works Perfectly, and does the work of au army of men. The carrier is an iron machine on which is reeled miles of fat wire, ten in number for each machine, ditch ‘is dug for the Wooden trough oF holder of the aspiialt.” The trongh is of pine plank, and about ten or twelve inches wide. A bed Of hot asphalt cement ix jaid over the bottom of this trough.
