In the investigation at the Franklin school butldimg yesterday, into the charges preferred by school trustee Birney against trustee Love- Joy, after Tue Stan's report closed Miss Kate R. MeQueen, a teacher, who graduated from the Normal school in 1882 testified to having signed ‘the pay rolis for the months of May and June, 1882. When Miss Bartlett's school was being taught by the Normal school, Mr. Wilson re- uested her to sign the pay rolls. She did so, received a check, indorsed it, and handed it to Mr. Wilson, She did not learn personally what became of the money. On cross-examination she testified that she did not receive any com- pensation fot ber services in Miss Burtlett's school, while she was a Normal school pupil. She was glad of the opportunity to eet. the Practice. A FELLOW-LAWYER CHARGES HIM WITH CRIMINAL LIBEL, Mr. John Johns, attorney-at-law, of this city, was arrested yesterday at Towson, Md;, on a charge of criminal libel, on a warrant of Mr. F, ‘W. Brune, of the firm of Brown & Brune, attor= neysof Baltimore.
