The simple fact is that the prices of admission are probibitive, and what 1s surprising 1s that the managers are too stupid to see it. Within a space of tree years the price of most of the neces- sities and luxuries of life have fallen twenty-five, fifty and even seventy-five per cent, but opera and. heatemtickets remain the game. And yet managers aapiain of hard timest It Is impossible to secure a seat down stairs at he Milan troupe for less than $2.50. ‘It a gentle- tian wishes to take a lady, therefore, and give her seat in tae body of the house, he must pay $5.00, | not to speak of extras, suell as cab hire, bret to, 0 supper, flowers, ete.
