Callahan, formerty a letter-carrier, Who was indicted in May last for opening letters, was this morning surrendered by his surety, Mr. John Webster. Callahan, on his first arrest, had a hearing before United States Commissioner Mills on the charge of opening letters addressed to M. A. Dauphin, N. Y.. and was held to bail in $1,500. hortly after indictment his former bondsman Sur- rendered him and he gave new bonds, with Mr. Webster as surety, and not long afterwards Calla- han disappeared. Murphy, the young man who was killed from a blow on the head with a gtone, found a verdict that the deceased came to hfS death from a wound in- ilicted on Wednesday by a blow from a stone, which the jury believes to have been thrown by Daniel Munford, colored. Munford, who 1s but 12 years of age, was sent to jail. ‘The funeral of young Murphy, which took place yesterday afternoon, from thé Church of the Immaculate Conception; Was very largely attended. Henick, of Grand Junction, Gol., left him a yéar‘ago and returned recently to tind him divoreed and inarvied to another woman,whom she instantly Shot and killed. She obtained bail and began pro- ceedings against Henick’s property. Saturday af- ternoon Henick shot and killed her while she was engaged with the sheriff in taking possession of Henick’s cattle.
