Moore smilingly stated. Mayor Melvin said that the people at Cape May were glad to have the Infantry come and sorry wien they went away. He paid a high tribute to the law-abiding spirit that animated the corps, and instanced the numerous courts-martial for the trial of offenders as an illustration of that prompt and unbending sense of justice which characterized them even in their hours of relaxa- ton ‘A GOOD TIME Gi RALLY. ‘The speeches, which were short and tothe point, Were received with cheers, and, after staging by a glee club, composed of Messrs. James Smith, Al. Fennell, &G. Crandail, W. H. Danlel, Magnus Keochltbg, W. H. Foresman and Henry Boswell, members of the Arton and Beethoven clubs, the order to break ranks was given. The men tly to the locker room, and quickly got rid of their heavy knapsacks and’ coats, and, on coming out, were soon surrounded by ‘their triends.
