C., August 27.—This morning Henry Jones was hanged in the yard of the Jail in this city, privately, in the presence of 100 persons. Early last_year he shot and killed Deputy Sheriff Alvis H. Blake, while under arrest. Jones had made a profession of religion. He was remarka- bly self-possessed before the execution and on the gallows. He was at 6:40 a m., after speaking and praying.
