The sales of live stock at Queens- town disposed of 300 head of beeves, but the sales were dull, the average being one-eighth cent lower. For lambs the market was active, and calves brisk at from 6to8 cents per pound. The flour market is rather quiet, but with a fair Job- bing trade in the best brands. Wheat still remains firm in consequence of the Mmited receipts. Farmers ars now busy with seeding-time and do not market their grain. Corn 4s also of ight supply and Inclined to an advance. Oats are steady and sell very readilyr The hay market {s rather dull, Cobtet on the Offerings are liberal. The best green-cured timo thy ts always saleable and at the best prices. Mixed and ciover are not so much Wanted, and the prices rule low. Rye straw not so mnch in demand and fs about on a par with clover—$6 to $8 per ton. Mill feed fs steady, ranging from $17 to $20 per ton, BUITER, EGGS AND POULTRY. In butter the receipts of New York state are more plentiful, and sales are lively at slightly easter prices. Near-by products are beginning to show a better quality and are meeting with more favor. A large proportion;of near-by productions is poor. The receipts of western is beginning to increase In quantity and improve {n quality, and the price isa lttie easter. Eggs are quiet al- though the receipts are not large, and. prices are Inclined to yield a little. ‘The poultry trade holds g00d, and spring chickens are having a fine run, although the complaint 1s that they are too small. Chickens should weigh about three pounds per pair to sell well and command the highest prices, Old fowls are lower and not so much in demand. Both green and dried domestic fruits are very scarce and not much in the market. A few cran- berries are still in the market, ranging in price from $4 to $5 per bushel Dried and evaporated fruits are scarce and in demand. ‘The vegetable trade fs lively. Good old potatoes are seliing well and many of them are sought for seed. Farmers say there will be a large crop lanted this year, and the wet season 1s in their ‘avor when the ground Is not too low. Sweet po- tatoes and yams are in good condition and plenti- ful for this season of the year. Alarge quantity are annually used in this District, and the pros- tis that more will be planted than usually. st of the early vegetables from the south are arriving freely. Green peas, beans, tomatoes, cu- cumbers, squash, spinnach, radishes, &., ‘are seaman 4m price, and the demand as great as ver. STRAWBERRIES are arriving In ‘abundance. B street and Louts- Jana avenue dealers are having fresh loads of them on the arrival of every southern boat and train. They are selling by Wholesale from 7 to 8 cents per quartof good size and sound. The retail price is a few cents in advance. Wholesale dealers in fresh meat state that the business is rather dull;beef 1s unchanged, while Veal is more in demand and the stock 1s well supplied. Lamb carcasses are of slow sale at un- changed prices. The sales of cured meats are of rather dull sales,and a general inactivity prevalls.
