A/D. 1883, at FIVE O'CLOCK P.M, in_ front of the premises, all the following de: ty IN THE air, A Some New Discoveries About Pleasant but Dangeroi There is something very pleasant abont spring, but there is also something particularly dangerous. In order that the frost may be set free, latent heat must be absorbed and thia, taken from the atmosphere, leaves a chill far more trying to the health than the cold of fall or winter. Not only this but the heat of the sun dries up the putrefying vegetation that the winter bas accu- mulated and fills the air with malaria. Spring fevers are very common, and they are ® very dangerous afflic- tion. They arise from the enervated condition of the body; from the malarial influences of the atmosphere, and from the general change of the season. They show themselves in innumerable forms but their source can be traced to some one of the above causes. The indications of their approach area thirst for acids; yellow complexion; ® weak circulation of the blood; unnatural condition of the skin; mysterious ach- ing of tne bones; a feeling of emptiness in the head; emaciation, with woe-berone expression of the face; Palpitation and irregularity of the heart; deficient or unnatural ‘appetite, flatulence and constipation; cold rface, with » high temperature of the body: chills and fever; chronic bronchitis, spasmodic asthma and catarrh of the throat; a sensation of numbness of one side of the body with a pressure on the opposite side of the head; a constant sense of weariness with fluttering of the stomach, sinking sensations and dizziness. Any of these physical conditions must be treated promptly and thoroughly. The vitality must be restored—the systom strengthened, for if they do not at once produce sorious diseases they are likely to lay the foundations of constituional disorders. Dr. Younge in‘his work on ‘Malaria and its Effects.” says: **When the poison of malaria erists in the human body in a hidden form, it will excite and complicate any disease to which the body may be disposed. It becomes ‘8 great danger when complicated with local affectionsof the lungs, heart, liver and kidneys.” The liver should pass out 2}6 pounds of bile daily. The kidneys also re- lieve the system of a proportionate amount of poison. ‘There is scarcely a town in the country where malaria is not aleading cause of disease. In hot, moist climates it producos yellow fever; in temperate zones intermit- text and typhoid fovers. During the late war there were 1,500,000 cases of malarial fever in the army, a large proportion of which proved fatal or shattered the constitution. Malaria, whatever it is, paralyzes the liverand kidneys. These organs become filled with blood, producing enlarged liver, and chronic albu- minuria, or Bright's disease of the kidneys, by in- terrupting the circulation of the blood. If the blood does not properly circulate, then It is not cleansed, and impure Llood means decay and death. It has for years been a study with the most discerning physicians and scientists how best to counteract these destructive tendencies, or check them when once they have begun, but it has been found to be a most difficult task. Medicines which, under other circumstances, have Seemed to opcrate finely became utterly inefficient when Sspplied to these serious disorders. A few years einco, however, a remedy was found to be specially adapted to these troubles and it has since acquired a world-wide reputation as.an antidote for mfhamatic poisons. This remedy is Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Cr It ts not an experimental compound, but its merits have been proven, by the severest of testa. Its unusual value is shown by its enormous sale and by the many dangerous and usoless imitations which haye been made or it. As ® completo blood purifier and as a spring tonic itis really wonderful in its powers, and any one who is con- scious of any of the symptoms above enumerated cannot safely be without it. What malaria really is has been 8 vexed question. Many theories have been advanced, one ot which is that it is caused by the emanations of a certain low species of plant called Pamelie. To these have been appiied the term of ‘‘earth miasm" and ‘‘ague plants,” and ‘ss these plants are invariably found in malarious dis- tricts, there would seem to be a foundation for this as- sertion, We know certainly that cryptogamic produc- tions eliminated by the kidneys have caused malarial ‘as well as intermittent fevers, and also that these ague plants are found in the urine of the afflicted persons. It is thus clearly proven that the kidneys are all-impor- tant factors in malaria. The period of incubation 15 indefinite, often only afew days or weoke being re- quired, but the disease may not assert itself for several months, and even years may elapse before the morbid effects are manifested. The ‘above theory as to its cause is endorsed by Dr. Anaereon, of Cincinnati, who also says: *'I havo used Warner's Safe Cure in the most obstinate cases, and have found that it wo:ked admirably, indeed; I havo tried it too often not to be convinced of ita efficiency.” All the foregoing truths show the importance of watch- ing the health at this particular season of the year. To avold the possibility of any fever; to thorough'y purify the blood and to put the system in a condition to per- form the duties and enjoy the pleasures of life, is. a great privilege. ‘That this can be done by using Warner’s Safe Cure, which is sold by all dealers, the expe- rience of thousands bas proven beyond a doubt, and it is daily being verified by thousands more. When disease is fastened upon the body; when pain ‘becomes the only prospect in life; when hope departs and despair beging, anything that can furnish relief is Bladly welcomed. But how much better it would be to counteract theee evil tendencies before they have become strong—how much easier to prevent them altoxether by ‘8 proper use of a remedy that has proven its worth by its unfailing powers. Any one who pauses and care- fully reflects will, we believe, see the truth of these oon- clusions and be governed thereby. It the Springtime.
