Lieut. Noonan was sent for by the court. He stated that when he informed the man who wag talking to witnesses this morning that he would be locked up if he did not desist, that Lawyer Hewlett threatened him ‘violently, and shook his fist. in his (the Meutenant’s) face, and he had to use a great deal of forbearance. . A public meeting of the eleventh sub-division Associated Charities was held last night In the Westminster Presbyterian church, Rev. Dr. Bit- tinger, pastor. There was a fair attendance of the charitably disposed citizens of South Washington. The president, Mr. Jos. M. Wilson, called the meet- Ing to order, and stated the objects tobe to re- kindle an interest in the objects and atms of the Associated Charities. He spoke of the great num- ber of worthy poor in the eleventh division, and the small means at hand to relieve them. Rev.Dr. Bittinger, Mr. cere’ White and Mrs. John D. Hyer were appointed a committee to nominate officers for the ensuing year. The committee reported the following nomina- tions, which were approved: President, Dr. R. B. Donaldson; vice president, Mrs. Isabella M. Bit- Unger; treasurer, Isaac Fairbrother; and Sainuel M. Yeatman, secretary. For directors, Joseph M. Wilson, Sarah Lloyd, Mr. J. Whit Herron, Mrs. John D. Hyer, Mrs. William Cammack, Mr. E. G. Wheeler, Mr. George White, Mr. W. H. Baum, Mrs W. W. Hicks, and Dr. Henty C. Thompson; 'C. B. Pearson, delegate to the central board. Dr. Donaldson made an appropriate address, in which he referred to the very large fleld for work in the eleventh subdivision and of the need for immedi- ate help. He stated that Mr. Wm. H.
