THE EAKLY COMPLETION OF THE WORK EXPECTED— NOW THE ROOMS HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED—PROPOSED RECONSTRUCTION OF THE OLD BUILDING. t The work on the extension of the Court House bulking, which was erected originally over half a century ago, for the accommodation of the courts and the officers of the corporation of Washington, and fs now used altogether for the purposes of the courts,ts so far advanced that some of the rooms Will be occupied in about three weeks. The judges have assigned the rooms to the several courts and officers. THE NEW COURT ROOMS. On this floor the large room in the northwest corner will be used by the Equity Court, and ad- Joining it are cloak and retiring rooms on one side and a consultation room on the other. Next is a large court room, which will be used by the aux- itary Circuit and Criminal Courts, and edjoining | this ts a consultation room. Then comes the clerk’s office in a large atry room with a room of smaller size; next a consultation room for the neral Term, and the room in the northeast cor- ner will be for the General Term. These wiil all be occupted not later than the 15th of November. It Possible the rooms in the second story, tn which will be located the library and rooms for the juries, will also be occupied by that time. No provision has been made in the extension for permanent oMlces for the district attorney, the marshal, the register of wills, and the recorder of deeds, as it 18 contemplated to REMODEL THE OLD BUILDING, and per- manent places will then be provided for these om- cers, The addition to the bullding 1s well ar Tanged, lighted and heated. It isa marvel as to cost, the appropriation having been but $117,000, and reflects credit upon Mr. Edward Clark, tue arehitect, and Chief Justice Carter, who took a personal interest in the plans from ‘the inception Of the project to the present time. It is thougit that whea the reconstruction of the front building mpleted there will be ample room for all the Julictal purposes of the District for a half century or more to come, ees Now We Was Rossep.—A young colored man ed Chas.
