Clerk of the Court Luman yesterday recelved new commissions for the state police at Eckhart, giving them aur thority to act on the property of all the coal com- panies in the Cumberland region, and also on the Une of the Geonge’s Creek & Cumberland raflroad. Under the original commissions they had authority to act only on the property of the Consolidation Coal Company anion the line of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company. The new commissions state that they are to watch, guard, protect and defend alike the interests of all the mining companies in Allegany county, as well alsa as the property of the rallroad companies in the George's ereek region terminating at Cumberland, The new miners have become adepts, and are be- ginning to feel that they can take care of theme selves, and now new labor wil: shortly be intro- duced'into other mines than the Eckhart. The companies have taken a position from which they cannot recede, no matter the cost. The charge of incit- ing to riot was abandoned,and he was tried on the charge of being drunk and disorderly and with resisting a state officer in the discharge of his duty, and was adjudged guilty, but with the con- sent of the acting state's atiorney the case Was dismissed and Donahue released.
