Last evening the annual meeting of the lot- holders of Glenwood Cemetery was held in Lin- coln hall building, Mr. T. W. Bartley presieing and ‘Mr. L. Clephane secretary. The latter read the annual report, which shows receipts for the year ending May Sist, $4,848.44; expenditures, $4,927.08. The report states that, having received a commu- nication from Mrs. Meckieham, the grand-daugh- ter of Thomas Jefferson, in reference to removing his remains to Glenwood, the trustees promptly agreed to deed in trust ground for the section J_and the ground in rear of judge Bartiey, T. J. Fisher, and John McClelland were re-elected to Tepresent tue lot-owners on the board Of trustees. ‘The chairman laid before the meet- ing a letter of J. L Smith, a communi- cation complaining of graves having been robbed of flowers. Several spoke on the subject, the gist of their remarks being that the communication was written for the purpose of injuring the ceme- tery and that there was but little cause of com- aint. A motion by Dr. McFarland that the board directed to make more stringent rules as to ad- missions to the grounds was carried. ‘The ques- tion of asking the District Commissioners to im- prove Lincoln avenue, which isthe thoroughfare to Glenwood, Prospect Hill, and St. Mary’s ceme- teres, was considered, and it was suggested that the trustees of Glenwood act with the trustees or directors of the other cemeteries on the subject. Berge ee! ‘The Trouble at the Government Print- ing Office. SENATOR PLUMB'S RESOLUTION AND WHAT LED TO IT. Senator Plumb offered a resolution in the Senate yesterday, (as stated in THE STAR), Te- quiring the Pubite Printer to inform the Senate whether appointments in his office are governed by the rules of any organization, or whether he 1s controlled by any organization. The reason for this resolution {s that the Senator recently se- cured the appointment of a Mr. Reynolds as proof jFeader. ‘The printers employed av the, govern. | ment office, (metabers of the union), objected to the empléyment of Reynolds, not only because he Was not a printer and not a meiber of the ‘Typo- | graphical Union, but also because, as they claim, he Was not skilléd enough to read proof, the law requiring the Public Priater “to employ no work- | men not thoroughly skilled in their respective | branches of industry’as shown by a trial of their skill under his direction.” ‘The Public Printer be- ing informed of this by a committee appointed at a Meeting of the printers, satd that he would have the case investigated, and if the man was incom petent it would soon be ascertained. Mr. Rounds, the Public Printer, sald to-day that there would be nothing further’ done in the Reynold’s case until after he had made his reply to the Senate resolution, which he expected to do in the course of a day or two. He sid that the matter Was of no importance and would be set- ted. es MARRIAGE Licenses have been fssued to F. F. Dole and Lucy E. Norman,W. R. Bradford and Ida 1.Donoho, John W.
