Sales were -made in 1872 for two years; in 1874 sales for three years more were advertised, but were prevented by an injunction in s lawsuit brought bythe marketmen, which has lasted seven years and prevented a compliance with the law and deprived the Company of ite rights during ‘bat time. The Supreme Court of the UnitediStates decided every question against the marketmen and in favor of the Company, and theauction sales must now be made. The rentals of the stalls have been reduced by the Company so that after tne discount of 20 per cent. made to purchasers at auction for prompt payment in advance, they will be monthly, on Butchere’s single stalls, $9.60, or $14.40 on ahalf section of a stalliand half, or $28.80 ona full section of three stalls; on Bacon stalls, $7.20, or $10.80, or $21.60; on Butter stalls, $5.40, or $8.10, or $16.20; on Hucksters' stalls (orequivalent stalls), in Seventh and Ninth street buildinga, $5.60, or $8.40, or $16.80; in B street buildings, $4.20, or $6.30, or $12.60; on Fish stalls, $4.80, or $7.20,ior $14.40, The auction sales will be of the right to ocoupy, if the purchaser chooses, for eighteen (18) years, until January 1, 1900. The act of Congress provides that there shall be no by-bidding on the part of the Company, directly or ~» but that a minimum rate of bids may be fixed, below which bids will not be received. The minimums will be, on a Butcher's single etall, $150, or $225 on a half-section, or ‘$450 on 8 full section of three stalls; on Bacon and But- ter stalls, $120, or $180, or+ $360; on Hucksters' or equivalent stalls, $100, or $150, or $300; on Fish stalls, $200. This bonus will be payable $25 cash down; 20 per cent., crediting the $25 on taking possession, and bal- ance in eight 10-per cent. installments, payavle semi- annually, with 5 per cent. interest. No promissory notes or sureties for the bonus will be required, but the stalls will be the sole security; and if the marketman chooses to quit his stalls at any time he may do so, and any bonus certificate not then due will be canceled and given up to him. The above bonus will, during the eighteen years, increase only 70 cents per month, the amount paid for a single Butcher's stall; for a Bacon or Butter stall, 56 cents; for a Huckster’s or equivalent stall, 46 cents; for a Fish stall, 93 cents. ‘The sales will be as in 1872, of the first, second, and subsequent choices of stalls in the several classes; and the highest bidder above the minimum for a choice can select any stalls in the market of his class not previously sold or selected. Anycombination or conspiracy or threats to prevent a free and fall sale, or to deter any person from bidding or from selecting or occupying stalls, will be promptly prosecuted to law. Full printed terms of sale, classification of stalls by numbers, forms of agreement of lease, and bonus certificates and Market, ions may be obtained on application at the Company's Office. P. 8.
