President Arthur in conversation yesterday with Senators Pendleton and Logan, who waited upon him as a committee to inform him of the election of Senator Davis, said he would be gratified if the Senate would take a recess to visit Yorktown instead of adjourning. He wants the entire Senate to accompany him to the cen- tennial, and besides he is desirous of keeping his present Cabinet intact until after that event. “The program for the centennial when arranged, as- signed to Mr. Blaine conspicuous duties at the'cen- tennial. All the members of the Cabinet were con- cerned in preparing sor the government's participa- tion in the event, and the ident. desires them to carry out the work they aided in arranging. Hence he has decided not to Inake aby nominations for the new Cabinet until after the centennial He has intimated that he will not detain the Senate more than two or three days after its return from Yorktown.
