Karns and Geo. - Howe against the Potomac, Fredericksburg and Piedmont Railroad Company and others. Karns and Howe claimed to be creditors of the | Toad to the extent of about $135,000, which they had expended in the furtherance of a $1,000,000 contract to complete the building of the road from Fredericksburg to Orange Court-House. Having heard that a sale of the road was to be made to the Atlantic and Ohio Railroad by L. Harvey Richards, acting president and reputed owner, the plaintiffs filed a bill in equity in court, askin a special injunction to restrain the payment of the proceeds of the sale to Richards until the ownership of the road and the rights of the plaintiffs could be determined; also for the appointment of a receiver to whom the proceeds should be paid. Judge Butler granted these prayers, and said the sale was not to be interfered with. but to goon. The antee Trust and Safe Deposit Company, of delphia, was appointed receiver, securi entered in $20,000. x : hip Heather, Capt. David Decoste, arrived at St. Johns, N. P., re- ports falling in with the wreck of a small vessel called the Cortie. She was of American build, and probably schooner rigged. Her masts had been sawed off close to the decks, and, with all her rigging, chains, anchor and boats, were all gone. The mainsail, two sides of the c@bin and the bulwarks were smashed in, as if by means of crowbars. Capt. Decoste reports that he was convinced that the vessel had been boarded by irates and stripped. Her stern was sunk too far under water to discover her name (if there) and port of register. The name Cortie, that ponkd be seen, was on her starboard bow rail. The wreck was when about forty-eight miles southeast of Scattelee, Cape Breton. ——_—_—e- —______ Tracic END or aN ELoreMeNt.—On Monday the we he Mrs. Amanda Henderson was found in the Delaware and Chesapeake canal, at St. George's, Delaware.
