There is an external be a sure cure for headache. iis is the electric brash. To all appearance it is like any ordi- nary brush, but in its bristles is inexhaustible supply of electricity. How this electricity is put into the bristles is not known. P they are soaked for twenty-four hours ina paitful of electricity, or periaps electricity is forced into them by heavy pressure. At an} rate, the electricity is in them, and it is practi- cally inexhaustible. As everybody knows, electricity is a specific | for headache, no matter from what cause the headache may arise. Doctors have hitherto ad- | ministered electricity by the spoonfal, or In the shape of pills, but its unpleasant taste has ren- | dered it unpopular with delicate patients. The electric hairbrush supersedes electrical pills and draughts. If you have a headache all you have to do is to induce some one to brush your hair with an electric brush. You will neither taste | nor smell the electricity, but it will soak through | the scalp and skull, and on ing the brain will instantly cause the headache to cease. This is surely better than swallowing nauseous doses of liquid or solid electricity, which delicate | stomachs often are unable to retain. There is abundant testimony to prove that the clectric hairbrush is as beneficial and infallible in its effects as are the liver, stomach, lung, kidtey, spine, shin and back-teeth pads that are in such universal use, and the sneers of the doctors who call themselves “regular physicians” cannot jure it in public estimation. it is singular that the inventor of the electric hair-brush did noe Te a that an = clothes-brush wot supply a great popular want. The clothes-brushes now in the market are delusions and snares. The flat clothes- brush retains whatever extraneous matter it may gather from the human coat or trousers only long enough to deposit it on some other = the garment, and the so-called whisk- room, instead of cleansing a garment to which it is applied, Mls it with broken particles of m straw, so that its last condition is in- finitely worse than its first. We need an elec- tric brush that will attract and retain every particle of dust, hair or other foreign substance with which it may be brought in contact. Such a brush would be even more valuable to man- kind than is the electric hair-brush of which mention has just been made. It ts in connection with unlawfal and unde- sirable hair that the electric clothes-brush would be chiefly prized. There can be no question that the hair of the feminine head has a strong pro- | clivity for masculine coat collars. The most in- | nocent husband is liable to carry home unknown hairs on his collar, and thereby imperil his do- mestic happiness. 'When we reflect that in this country thére are, at the lowest estimate, twelve millions of women who daily comb | their hair, we can understand that the atmos- here must be full of stray hairs. They may be invisible so long as they are floating in the air, but wnen they come in contact with coat. collars their presence is instantly de- | tected by every intelligent wife. It is in vain that the husband protests his innocence, for hair | on the coat collar is held among wives to be the | strongest circumstantial evidence of misconduct. | The domestic misery that arises from this case | is enormous. There was a i‘ yung woman in an Illinois town who was employed by a lawyer to secretly drop from her second-story window upon the coats of respectable citizens on the | sidewalk specimens of hair taken from a cheap “switch,” and so successful was this diabolical plot that in two months that wicked lawyer was retained in seventy-eight divorce suits. This was, of course, an exceptional case, but it shows what a potent element of domestic unhappiness is hair on the collar. Now, if there were a clothes-brush filled with | electricity which would infallibly attract every | hair in its neighborhood, what an immense ser- | which is said to lady would have an electric clothes-brush hang- ing in the front hall, so that the young men who might call upon her could use it on bidding | her good evening, their boarding-house without fear of the scrutin- Izing gaze of the landlady. Every married man could carry a small electric cloties-brash in his | pocket, and by using it just before entering his house could insure himself against any miscon- | struction of his conduct, and could make his account of the unexpected business which de- | tained him at his office until 11 p.m. seem really | plausible. The man who invents the electric | clothes-brush will have a fortune in his pocket | within a year after he begins to advertise it. = = Tue Faricre oF Sapuier & Co. plates pressed for payment, and that the firm made an assignment for the protection of other creditors.
