More Rain To-morrow. ‘The chief signal officer furnishes the follow- ing special bulletin to the press:—Rain has ion; fair weather has prevailed in the south- ern states apd New England. In the past two @ays more then four aud one half inches of rain have fallen at Des Motnes, lowa. There hhas teen a considerable fail of temperature in the Missouri valley, and a considerable rise 1n the Ohio valley. The temperature averages ten degrees below the mean for the month in the lake region, middle states and New Enq- lend. The winds are generally Ught, and the southern states southerly. The indications are that on Wednesdsy fair weather wilt prevatl in the gulf states, and rain in New England, and possibly rain in the middle states. Military Notes. ‘The Washington Light Infantry Corps had a Grill last night with 143 men fm line. At the east front of the Capitol they attracted a large crowd to witness their evaiutions; amid march- ing up the avenue, battalion front, they elicited Tounds of applause, The National Rifles held a spectal meeting after drill last evenipg, and elected several honorary members, The company decided to celebrate thelr anniversary, June 9, by a parade. The company will assemble at the armory at 6 p.m. in fatigue uniform for the fame. NO REPORT YET PREPARED. ‘The taking of testimony ia the investigation Of Miss C. A. Lewis, one of the colored schocl teachers charged with holding improper rela- tions with a Mr. Marshal, has closed. The managers of the investigation—Mr. Wilkinson on the part of Miss Lewis. and Mr. Brooks on the part of the school board—now have the evidence before them from which a report will be deducted for greece to the inves'l- ating committee for its final action. A great leal of evidence has been taken. Some of the members of the committee on teachers of the public school board this morning flatly con- tradict the statement Epi fa a morning parer, to the effect that the committee having the case of charges against Miss Lewis, of public Schools, had come to any conclusion. They State that the committee closed its alttings last night for taking testimony, and adjourned toa future ume to review testimony; that no opin- fon has been expressed by any members a3 to the truth or falsity of the accusations. Suit for Damages Against the Dis- trict. ‘Theodore H. N. McPherson, a3 counsel for Mc, Amorett J. Clark, to-day entered suit against the District of Columbia for $20,000 Gamages for injuries received by the plaintit® on the 25th December, 1890, by which her thigh-bone was broken. She slipped and fell upon the street crossing where the snow ani. ice had not been removed, in endeavoring to Teach the 7th street cars, on south side of Pennsylvania avenue, whereby her -DIDe was so badly fractured that she could not move, and had to be removed in a carri to her home on Cap‘tol Hiil, From the injuries re- ceived she was confined to her bed for saveral weeks and is now only able to move about on crutches. INTERESTING RUNNING RACES ON THE PROGRAM. The board of directors-of the National Fair Grounds Association met last evening, Col. Joseph McKibbin, vice-prealdent, in the chair, and Mr. Charles C. Duncanson secretary. It was decided to hold the annual fair, for stock and other exbibits, in October next, com- mencing on the isth and ending on the 28th of the month, and to have ranning races during that period. They propose to mak? the pee lberal and an object for owners of orses to bring their stock to the course. It is alo the intention to secure the presence of Luke Blackburn, the king of the turf, aud the few great leaders of the string of ‘runners Mes:rs. H. H. Blackburp, W. H. Morrison and Charles C. Duncanson were selected as a com- mittee to revise the premium list and prepare a catalcgue, A Superb Benefit Performance.
