Court of Claims Decisions. CASES OF DISTRICT INTEREST. A Lumber of important decisions were an- nounced in the Court of Claims yesterday, after which the court took a recess to the 23¢h of November next. In the case of Simon Car- mody, contractor, against the Districi of Co- lumbia, judgment for $4,517.45 was entered in favor of the plainttf® for work on streets. Io the case of the North American Neuchatel Rock Paving Company against the Distric: of Columbia, the plaintiff set forth that the Dis- trict had wrongtully pald certatn certificates assigned by tke plaintiif in blank, and that in consequence the District ought rightfully to pay the claim again, The court dismissed the petition on the ground that the District had pald its obligations and that between the two parties to the suit the loss ought certainly to i100 the plaintiff. A large sum was involved in the suit and it decides many others of a like nature, CASES OF NATIONAL INTEREST. Lhe decision leaves the past and present rates of compensation unchanged. Washington Convocation Church. DISTINGUISHRD CHURCHMEN IN ATTENDANCE. The Washington convocation of the Epis- copal church convened last evening at sr. dobn’s church. A sermon appropriate to the occesion was delivered by Rev. Dr. Forrest. At half-past ten o’clock today, Rev. Dr. Hutton preached a sermon, atter’ which the communion was administered. Lewis Jounson, allas Filip Brown, indicted with Lewis Mickens (previously convicted) for burglary and larceny Of property of Bernard McGee in January last; Pleaded not guilty. Geo. McIntosh, a young man in sailor dress, larceny of U.S. property (4 pistol in the custody of Commissioner of Patents Marble), pleaded gullty and asked the leniency of the court. The dispute as to who shall use and occupy ‘McKendree church near Mitchelyille, P. G. Co., Ma., some 10 miles south of Bowie (which was the subject of a long letter in Taz Star a fow Weeks ago), has found its way into the courts. It will be remembered that the church having been built before the war and held by trustees for the M. E. church had for a number of years past been used as an appointment in Marlboro Circuit of the M.E. church south,and the minis- ler Of South river circuit M. E. church, Rev. D. Haskell, having preached there one Sunday (the church having been forelbly opened) esgayed topreach again when admission was refuted him by @ majority of the trustees and he retired. Since then both parties have been taking legal advice and a few days ago Mr, Duckett, one of the trustees (wno, itis claimed, withdrew from the M. E. church south) and five others holding appointments under the South river quarterly conference filed in the Prince George’s county court a bill asseriing their ownershl) of the property, complaining that they are kept out of its ocea- pancy, and asking AN INJUNCTION to restrain respondents (J.
