FAILURE TO COMPROMISE AT THE CONFERERUE LAST EVENING, The trustees of the telephone company and the executive committee of the subscribers as- sociation met in conference over existing differ- ences last evening. The trustees presented a new schedule of rates based upon the amount of service rendered. This schedule made a con- siderable reduction of the rates prescribea by the circular of January 30th.
