The Colquitt Cutting Case. WIS ASSATLT ON REQUIRED TO GIVE $1,000 BONDS AND THE OTHER TWO MEN £500 EACH TO APPEAR AS WITNESSES This morning tn the Police Court a young white man named Clarence Colquitt brother of Gov. Colquitt, of Georgia, was charged with as- saulting with ents Kill Chas. Martin and L.A. McBee, by cutting them with a knife in front of the National Hotel, on the evening of March 1ith last. Mr. Martin, testified that ie, Mr. Colquitt an¢ several other gyoung men’ Were standing in front of the National hotei about 10:30 O'clock on the 11th of last month, when he and Mr. Colquitt had some words, and the latter drew a ksiveand cut him across th> neck, and be he has been under the care of Dr. Townshend until. a week ago. Mr. McBee. stated that the defendant cut him behind the the left ear and over the left eye, while he (witness) Was trying to separate Colquitt and Martin. Mr. Colquitt, who had no counsel, asked witness if he (witness) did not strike him (Colquitt) first, Witness stated that he thought Jhat he did not, but all the other parties pres- ent sald he did. Theodore Le it., Slated that he was in front of the National hotel ou the night in question, and saw the defendant with something in his hand, rush at Mr. Mar- tin, and afterward heard Martinsay that he Was cut. Mr. Colquitt then walked out to the curb and went away: witness thinks into the hotel. Dr. Townshend was called to testify as the character of the wounds of Martin, which were the more serious.
