The membership, however, shows an increase, SHALL WOMEN BE ADMITTED TO THR MINISTER About the most interesting question which will be before the body Is that admitting women to the ministry, Under the discipline as It now reads, the leaders and stewards and ministers have authority to Mcense exhorters, maie or female, but a8 to ministers the term male ts used. Some year or two ago Mrs. Clara Roach nee Cutter was Movnsed by the. quarterly con- ference of Hamline (9th and P streets) church a8 an exborter, since which time she has been quite active in revivals and other meetings, particularly temperance meetings. About six months ago the Hamline quarterly conteren recommended Mrs. Roach for license as a loc minister. The presiding elder (Kev. B. F Brown) decided that this could not be done, and 0 appeal was made to the bishops. It ts un- derstood that they have decided to present the question to this conference for tts action.
