A SERIOUS AND SINGULAR Loss.—The Baitt- more Su of this morning says: Mrs. Fama Simms. residing at No. 5th street north- west, Washington city, but stopping in Baltt- more, dropped a package of notes, amounting to $1,390 from her pocket on North’ Gay street, near’ Dallas street, about 19 o'clock yesterday Morning. ‘The mopey, somewhat ‘scattered about, was picked up by Mr. John Myers. He remembered that it was the day of the grand procession, and looked upon the shower of Sreenbacks as a sham of soine advertising de- luston, he resolved at once to make it a com- plete give way, and ‘anded around the money to all who desired it with an abandon beati- ifful to behold. Scenes that were ludicrous in the extreme ensued, though their ending was serlous. The idea of Mr, Myers took readily and five cent cigars were coolly lighted with twenty dollar notes, nearly all the money fen So notes of that denomination. Street gamins pasted a few around on awning posts to deceive unsuspecting strangers. A boy sold one $20 for 25 cents, and it is sald $500 ad- ditional were sold for the same amount.
