REVISING THE PREMIUM LISTS. Last evening the committee of the National Fair Association appointed to revise the premium lists met to make reports. Mr. James S, Edwards presided, with Mr. R. McCeney sec retary. ‘The sub-committees reported with the exception of these on poultry, agricultural pro- ducts, apparatus and instruments of fine work- maonship, iron and tin ware, dairy products, harness and leather and finearts. From information recelved here yesterday afternoon, Sergeant McCathran and some offi- cer of the county, proceeded to the house of a colored man named Beverly, at Hilisdale, and arrested Henry Lee allas Jesse Daingerfield, colored, on suspicion of murdering Henry Wil. Hams, colored, near Bowling Gri in Caroline county, Va., on the night of Friday, July 16th instant. Se colored woman named Ella Johnson, livi Tillisdale, but who had recently made a Bowling Green to see some relatives there. Lee was captured iast night and lockea up, and this morning taken to police headquarters, when Ella Johnsen also appeared and repeated her story. She states that last Saturday one week ago—the lith tnstant—she went from here to Bowling Greer, and Was surprised to learn that her uncie, Henry Wililams, living near that place had been murdered the day before, and another named Jim Wright had been badly beaten by Henry Lee, colored, who had es- caped, and that Walker Tolliver, a friend and confederate of Lee, who was with him, alding and abetiing Lim, had been captured and Is now io the hands of the sheriff of that county. Ella Sates that Lee had an old gradge against Jim Wright, and In company with Tolliver went to Wright's house, just outside Bowling Green, about midnight and called him up, and as he came outside commenced a quarrel, during which he struck him several murderous biows On the head, when Williams, who was s opping in the same house came to Wright's assistance, Lee tur:iog upon him asked what business he had to Interfere, and at the same time drawing a long thick knife plunged it turough the fleshy art Of Willlams’ left arm and injo his side. This morning, in the Police Court (Judg> Snell), the case of Banksand others, charged With malicious trespass in removing certain les at the 7th street wharf put tn place by tie Potomac Steamboat Co., and removed, it ts alleged, by direction of’ the Upper Potome Steamboat Co., was called. Judge Snell lati- mated that atter examining the decision tn the case of the Potomac S. B. Co. axt. the Upper Ss. Co, he would have to dismiss the cast wes Clear by that decision that no one right to use the navigable waters of the ri for wharfing purposes without a license from the United States, and the defendants had at least an equal right with the comp‘ainants. Mr. Barnard, of counsel for the Potomac Co., remarked that it had been understood yester- day that they should have an opportunity to present the law points; and, besides, the lice or permit under waich the Upper S. B. Co. claimed specially recognized the rights the Potomac Co. claim. The court continued the case to Thursday, Subsequently the case of Benj. F. Dodd, the agent of the Leary, charged with threats of personal violence to Thomas Banks, was called. Martin, E. T. Redmon, Jas. Honesty and Geo. Honesty. It was charged that they engaged in ariot on the afternoon of the 20th of June last,on C street, near 13i¢ street, and it was testiiied that the difficulty originated in Redmond, a colored man, asking Mr. Donaldson for some money, and that Donaldson knocked him don and the others got into it. In the states such things are done with a view to win and to retain votes to the parties resorc- ing to them, and they are wise and proper means of Capen their public affairs. But nothing of the kind done in the District of Columbia can make or lose a vote for either party, or upon any ques- Uon, national or local. Furthermore, the first and highest use of this District 13 as a home for the federal government, which means the as- cendant party for the time being.
