It is just possible that if the church people would cultivate a more Christ’an spirit they would be more successful than now in impressing upon the world’s people the fact that their church edifices are the temples of God. rn ‘The opinion grows that the extra session wil! bea pretty long one. Even if general legisla- tion should not be entered upon there will quite certainly be a dead lock upon the points at issue tnat will take up considerable time, even if no result is reached. +++ —____ ‘The New York democracy are so torn up with internal dissensions that there 1s a loud call for Horatio Seymour to come to the front and resume the leadership. He has declared re- peatediy that he will not be a candidate for Office again, but it 1s held that he owes too much to the democratic party to refuse in such ‘an emergercy as this. —~<~--—_____. It is very dificult for two negotiators, wita conflicting ends in view, to compromise the question at issue without also compromising one of the negotiators.
