Another meeting of the board investigating the charges preferred against Dr. Murphy, surgeon in charge of the Columbia hospital for women, was held last bight. Miss Mourske, a former nurse in the hospital, who prefers a series of charges, was not present. There Were no accusing witnesses present. It was announced that if any one present desired to testify to any mismanagement or abuse in the hospital they would be heard. No one respond- ed. The changes examined into last evening were, that after delicate examinations pa tients are compelled to return to their rooms, to go down to their meals, &c., and are never permitted to lie down, which is contrary to established hospital rules; that the surgeon- in-charge pays only one visit to the wards in each twenty-four hours, does not give a suf ficient amount of time to his visits, and is cross, rude, and profane, and that the food is poor and often not suitably cooked. The foremost amongst these, Messrs. Johnson Brothers, the most extensive dealers in coal and wood ‘in the District, pur- chased heavily at June prices, and are now receiving the advance cargoes. There are now at their wharves, foot of 12th and 13th streets southwest, discharging, four large cargoes of coal and four cargoes of wood. They hold bills of lading for ten other cargoes now on the way. Hence, business has been very lively around their wharves for the last ten days.
