Fox, was convicted of the larceny of a stove from Mrs. Downey. In reply to questions by the court, he said he came from Virginia; that he had once before been sent up for a Parcel of old tools found at his bouse, but he Wasn't guilty of this, and when he came back from where they sent him he made up bis mind with God not to take anything more, and he had not taken anything. DISCOVERY OF THE REMAINS OF COLUM- EUS.—The U. 8. Consul at San Domingo has | transmitted to the Department of State an account of the recent discovery of the bones of Columbus in the cathedral in that city. Columbus dying in Spain, in 1506, his re mains were first deposited in the convent of St. Francis. In 1513 they were transferred to the Carthusian convent of Las Cuevas, from thence = were shipped to Santo Domingo in 1°96, and deposited in the cathedral of that city.
