Treasurer Dodge reports that ouly six con- traciors out of seventy-seven, have paid their license forthe present year, and some of the six complain that they’ have not been tairly dealt with. B. F. Butler, it ts said, will take steps upon the assembling of the next Con; to procure & repeal of that section of the revised laws of the District which allows att ‘8 taxed fees on all suits brought tn this District. SUDDEN DEATH oF HuUGU CAPERTON, Fsa —Hugh Caperton, esy.. a prominent citizen aud & well-known lawyer of this place, died very suddenly, of paralysis of the heart, at Lis residence on 1st street, last evening about 9 o'clock.
