TO-DAY. The trial of Benjamin H. Bryan, indicted for abstracting money from letters while he wes employed as a letter carrier, was re- sumed, and he was convicted. CHARGE OF RAPE. Wm. Johnson. colored, was charged with rape on Sallie White, a girlof 12 years, on the sth of Angust.’ Mrs. White testified that the accused came to her house and said that a party wanted to hire a girl at Mount Pleasant, and they allowed the girl to go With him, and she returned about 3 o'clock very much bruised from the attack he male upon her. LABOR STRIKES IN BALTIMORE.—As the strike of the canmaxers terminates, the oys- ter shuckers come forward with their griev- ances. The shuckers employed at the house of D. D. tengg & Co., foot of Wolfe street, 12 men and 36 women, stopped work and held @ meeting last evening at Broadway institute. They claim that the measure they use holds 9% pints liquid measure, while those used in other estabiishments holds but 8% pints. They receive 20 cents per mea- sure for shucking, and average about $3 a week for their labor. On Saturday last » committee of three shuckers presented a let- ter to Mr. Mallory, setting forth their griev- ances, and were discharged from the wer This was the cause of a general strike of all bands, and they have not been at work since tm Mornipg.
